So on twitter and facebook at the moment everyone’s asking why the heavily trailed, historic ‘Brouhaha in Bristol’ between a bunch of climate sceptics (in the audience) and the object of their loathing, top climate scientist Michael Mann (on stage), failed to go off like the thorium powered cracker they boasted it would.
As Mann highlights, ‘It was Lewandowsky, climate scientist and master of ceremony’s fault’ they whine. ‘Lewandowsky carefully avoided handing the mic to sceptics so the Q&A was a nauseating oil-slick of sycophancy’. ‘The fact that there were only three people given the mic in the Q&A, despite the hands of many sceptics waving for it, and one of the three was the guy who runs Avaaz, the campaigning group behind that weekend’s global marches for climate justice…’ Yadayadayada. On it goes, a low complaining hum, like a relay race of farts in hamster balls.
Rubbish.
Michael Mann owned the sceptics, pure and simple. LFG was there, and we saw what happened for ourselves. And like Leo Hickman what we saw after Mann’s masterful, high-calibre-evidence armoured presentation was an opposition crushed, an army in woeful disarray, a garrison flailing, wounded, its morale shattered, its strategy in pathetic, jumbled pieces.
Want proof? Check out the video below. In it, Andrew Montford and Nic Lewis, two of the world’s most high-profile climate sceptics react like rabbits caught in the headlights, slow moving animals perhaps, caught in the blaze of Enlightenment. Like the Zapruder film of JFK’s assassination, the key frames are unfortunately slightly obscured, but by zooming in the historical moment scepticism finally succumbs to the lethal force of evidence becomes abundantly clear.
Of course, Nic Lewis might just have been bored.
Sorry Ricochet, the data on yawning says otherwise.
Call me a skeptic, but couldn’t he have been taking a bite from a Subway. Same jaw angle required.
A subway?! Like Michael says, Tin foil hat time. You people just dig your own graves, incessantly. THAT is a YAWN. The ultimate sign of surrender, fatigue, of giving in.
“A yawn, Provine believes, may simply signal a change of physiological state: a way to help our mind and body transition from one behavioral state to another.” i.e. from scepticism to facing reality.
Next!
I think maybe this one fits the video perfectly, if you interpolate the pixels and then invert:
I’m not very good on photoshop. You mean something like this?
